Today, the Waterford Township Fire Department held a remembrance ceremony and procession for fallen firefighter Carl H. Hasselhan, who died in the line of duty on October 20, 1979 while fighting a house fire. His turn-out gear is now housed in a memorial locker in the new Public Safety building next to the municipal building. The locker is a shrine, as the Public Safety building was built on the grounds of the church Carl was buried at.

WTNA would like to remember Carl, and many fallen first responders as heros of their communities, and would like to extend condolences to the families of Carl, and many other fallen first responders
