Local Fun: Tilt Studios

A few weeks ago, my 11-year-old nephew visited for the weekend. My son and daughter absolutely love him and we were brainstorming things for them to do. The weather was forecasting 90% chance of rain (which, incidentally, the 10% won and there was not a drop during the day). We had a list of ideas, but given the boys’ shared interest of arcade games, we settled on some indoor fun at Tilt Studios in Voorhees Town Center (formerly Echelon Mall).

We found a summer deal they are offering- 4 hours of unlimited arcade games and attractions for $20 (stick with 4 hours of just the arcade games for $15). My mom and I brought the boys shortly after they opened, and there was definitely plenty to do. They spent a lot of time doing their best spy impressions at Laser Frenzy, dodging a series of laser mazes to hit goals at varying levels of difficulty. They also ran around like maniacs in Ballocity, a climbing structure filled with foam balls; they had blasters to shoot the balls and a huge ball cannon that could be filled with tons of balls and shot all over the play area. It even included a slide!

We hit all of the attractions except for the Blacklight Mini Golf. They were both really interested in the gem mining, which featured real gems that they were able to keep. My nephew played some games while my son braved the Twirlin’ Taxi alone- a big, spinning, tilting ride that made me dizzy just watching, but he loved it! Their aunt joined them for a round of mini-bowling which reminded me of old-school candlepin bowling. They offer a snack bar complete with lunch options for a family or individual value meal items. We ordered a cheese pie for five of us, which was decently priced and not bad for arcade pizza.

Even though the card deal we purchased did not include the ticket-dispensing or crane games, there were plenty of games that the boys could play. We weren’t able to stay for the full four hours because of other commitments, but I definitely feel that we got our money’s worth on this trip. Keep in mind that there are height restrictions for all of the attractions, so it’s probably best to leave the little ones at home (my daughter had some special time with her daddy this day). This is a fun, indoor option for those miserable summer days when it’s too hot or too stormy.
